King Crimson - 21st Century Schizoid Man

Another example of the problems soldiers face when returning home is King Crimson’s 21st Century Schizoid Man. Through this song, the instrumental parts convey insanity by its cacophony of sounds and it's frightening lyrics. The central point, the schizoid man, is referred to after all the horrifying descriptions of war. The lyrics, “Blood rack barbed wire, politicians' funeral pyre and innocents raped with napalm fire. Twenty first century schizoid man,” Later in the song, the lyrics, “Death seed blind man's greed. Poets' starving children bleed. Nothing he's got he really needs. Twenty first century schizoid man,” showcases the troubles that veterans have when returning home between starvation and homelessness.
